Please note, our name is now Paradise Dog Training, but we still use the alpha dog training method developed by Stephen Gendron.

Alpha Dog Training is a method developed by Stephen D. Gendron. It is based on the study of wolf behavior, utilizing nature's way to teach people how to communicate with their canine friends. We believe it is important to understand how a dog thinks in order to be successful in schooling your dog. To achieve this, we have returned to the source to get our answers -- the wolf being the domestic dog's ancestor.

Dog Management

We would like to invite you into the world of dog management utilizing the Alpha Dog Training Method (Study of wolf behavior) with Steve & Val.We believe training should be fun for you and your dog, therefore we use techniques that are natural to your dog.
In November of 2002, I appeared on television to demonstrate
and discuss the Alpha Dog Training Method.

  • Force is not necessary; your dog will listen because he chooses to.
  • Reconditioning and positive reinforcement methods are used.
  • Learn how to correct and prevent problem behavior.
    You do not have to hit or yell at your dog.

We are located near Edmonton MAP , Alberta, Canada. Our regular training sessions take place at Paradise Pet Center in St.Albert, but we are available for any location surrounding Edmonton.

Friendly Methods

Our methods are simple, effective and complement a dog's way of thinking.

Your dog will be taught in various surroundings with real life distractions, instead of an artificial setting like an arena.

You will learn to teach your dog through voice, body language, respect & understanding without using bait.

Open door policy: If you have any concerns during the training, let us know ASAP so we can make adjustments to suit your individual needs.

About the Instructor:

My name is Steve and I have been training dogs professionally since 1991. I started at Parkland Kennels assisting in all levels of training. This experience led to competing in obedience trials with the Candian Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club where I earned several titles.

My departure from Parkland Kennels initiated the beginning of a new adventure; teaching private lessons and problem solving since 1993. During this time, I studied many different techniques and spent several years experimenting until I found the most friendly & effective methods to develop a well rounded and successful program.

In November of 2002, I appeared on television to demonstrate and discuss the Alpha Dog Training Method.

My partner Val assists me in training and handles administrative details. We currently have 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 kids (who round out our zoo!).
